Navigating the isolation of litigation | The Female perspective

Gender disparity and sub-conscious bias within the legal fraternity colour professional interactions. For many reasons - marriage, motherhood, curfews at home or just financial sense - women litigators leave litigation and pursue other interests. Those of us who do continue, struggle to find support systems in the profession. How do we recover from the everyday wear and tear of litigation? How do we cope with low morale or disillusioning days?

Let's ask the expert!

Maitri Gopalakrishna, Ph.D, Counselling Psychologist and Drama Therapist, will lead an interactive workshop for women litigators, covering coping mechanisms and self-care in an high pressure profession.

Maitri has worked with women professionals in male-dominated careers, helping them develop and implement 'best practices' for emotional and mental well-being.

Session Conclusions:

What a great interactive session it was!

The facilitator was amazed by the feistiness, humour and strength shown by our community.

The younger folk demonstrated how aware they were of the challenges in the profession, and also suggested practical and innovative solutions to these challenges. The senior folk showed how they have handled the challenges so far, and that love for the law is overarching.
