Chavadi* is a non-partisan platform formed in the year 2022. It facilitates expert, peer and mentor sessions for women litigators on diverse personal and professional areas of interest. It aims to provide and foster a non-judgmental space for open conversations and interactions.

About Chavadi

*The word 'Chavadi ' in Kannada is used to refer to the front porch of traditional houses with sit-outs at the main door. It could also refer to a village assembly hall, a shelter, a court or a government office.

Since its inception, we have held sessions addressing systemic bias, financial planning, mental health management, legal conveyancing and a mentor interaction with senior women litigators. Click here to see the details of the sessions held.

Walking the Talk

Lawyering for Social Change

Using lawyering as a deliberate tool to create legal awareness, to fight for social and economic justice and to reiterate principles of equity, moral decency and equality is not new to our panelists.

Is this a lawyer's job? Where does a lawyer start? To what effect? At what personal cost?

Our panelists speak of their early influences, their personal journeys, privilege and enabling conditions that have guided their choices, the economics of idealism, the moral weight of the work they do and much more.
